Apple Sauce (Unsweetened)

Portion: This recipe will yield about 1 cup.
The natural sugar from the apples may help reduce sweet-cravings and the cinnamon can assist in balancing blood glucose levels.
Did you know?
When baking, you can replace the butter in your recipe with half the same amount called for of applesauce. For instance, if a recipe calls for 1 cup of butter, replace it with 1/2 cup of applesauce.
INGREDIENTS
2-3 medium organic apples, peeled, cored and sliced (best results using McIntosh at room temperature)
2-3 Tbsp. filtered water
1 tsp. freshly squeezed lemon juice (will prevent apples from turning brown)
Ground cinnamon for garnish (optional)
PREPARATION
Place sliced apples in a medium saucepan, pour lemon juice over and mix well.
Add water, cover and cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes (or until apples are soft).
Let cool uncovered for about 10 minutes and mash or blend apples in a puree.
Optional: sprinkle with cinnamon to your taste.
